Working Health Services Scotland (WHSS)
Working Health Services Scotland (WHSS) is a free, confidential Scottish Government–funded programme delivered by qualified NHS practitioners to support self-employed individuals and employees of small to medium-sized businesses whose physical or mental health challenges are affecting their ability to work. The service provides rapid access to appropriate treatments—including physiotherapy and counselling—alongside personalised case-managed support to help patients manage their conditions, remain in work, and improve overall wellbeing, often preventing avoidable sickness absence. Available across Scotland, Monday to Friday from 8am to 8pm, WHSS offers GPs a reliable referral option for patients needing practical, work-focused health support. Patients can be referred directly or can self-refer via https://whss.salus.co.uk/ or 0800 019 2211.
