Description

Southside Housing Association (SHA) is a community-led registered social landlord, providing housing and a range of other services with a vision to care about place and community.

Our Welfare Rights & Money Advice Service is available to tenants of 4 Housing Associations in the Southside of Glasgow including:

Cathcart & District Housing Association

Craigdale Housing Association

New Gorbals Housing Association- Money Advice only

Who can refer?

Tenants of Southside Housing Association, Craigdale Housing Association, and Cathcart & District Housing Association, can self refer, or be referred by Housing Management staff. Tenants of New Gorbals Housing Association can be referred by their Housing Officer

Activities include:
Welfare Benefit Advice­ We provide Benefit Checks; Income Maximisation; Assistance to apply for any relevant benefits, including making and maintaining Universal Credit (UC) claims, and education on how to navigate a UC journal. Assistance with forms and correspondence; Advocacy and assistance to challenge benefit decisions and sanctions, and Appeal Tribunal representation.

Money Advice­ free confidential, impartial and independent debt advice.
We review finances; prioritise debts and complete a financial statement which includes details of
income and expenditure. We provide advice on what options are available, with details of any possible long term impact on credit rating and ability to borrow, and any other relevant information to help the client make a decision. We contact client’s creditors and negotiate with them on their behalf.
The Money Advice service is FCA regulated and Debt Arrangement Scheme (DAS) approved.

We are referral partners with Trussell Trust and other local foodbanks, and currently have access to funding from Energy Savings Trust for fuel vouchers for pre-payment meters
