Shoot For Success

Shoot for Success in partnership with Glasgow City Basketball Club is a small Scottish charity which has been delivering basketball coaching and personal development opportunities to children and young people in the east end of Glasgow since May 2004.

The inspiration for the programme is to introduce more children and young people into the world of sport, using basketball as a vehicle to:

Promote an alternative, healthy lifestyle
Instil a positive sense of purpose through developing life and social skills, respect for oneself and others
Increase awareness and help young people resist drug and alcohol use in order to achieve their full potential
Reduce the temptation of other negative influences by providing positive role models
By providing a sustainable pathway from recreation sessions to competition to allow youngsters the opportunity to progress to the level of their interest and ability.

This is achieved through the provision of sessions in schools and community facilities delivering recreation and development session as well as Festivals and Basketball camps during the school holidays.

We also aim to provide young people with skills to increase their employability through our coaching and refereeing training programme.
