We exist to provide social connections for older people at a time in their lives when their social circles are diminishing.
In response to Covid-19 we’ve suspended our regular social gatherings and, with the help of our dedicated volunteers, have set up a UK-wide call companions service. Older people who are feeling alone can receive a regular friendly phone call throughout the crisis and beyond, for as long as they want it.
If you would like to refer anyone to Call Companions, you are welcome to refer online (with their permission, of course) or simply pass on our freephone number: 0800 716543. We have friendly staff who can go through the application form with them over the phone.
Anyone can introduce an older person to us, including family, friends, social and health care professionals, day centres, churches and other charities.
This is a UK wide service. To be eligible for a call companion you should be living alone or in sheltered housing and have difficulty getting out in normal times. However, we do consider applications on a case-by-case basis, so if your circumstances don't completely meet our criteria and you would like a call companion, please do apply.
