Cash for Kids has one objective: to support the most vulnerable children in our communities who are the innocent victims of the growing epidemic of Child Poverty.
We are a small team of 4 who work hard all year round to ensure local children living in poverty are supported.
Our role is a critical one. Tackling child poverty and disadvantage remains the challenge of our generation... but we can and are making a change.
On the first day of national lockdown we launched the Cash for Kids Appeal on air to build a fund from which we could allocate grants to families adversely affected by Covid-19. These grants are designed to support families in crisis covering basic essential items such as food, fuel, nappies etc. I am proud to share that thanks to our listeners and supporters we have raised over £430,000 across Glasgow and the West. These donations have been distributed to 12,020 children and their families so far.
We will be distributing some group grants to grass root community groups in a much lower capacity in the coming weeks leading up to Christmas and will be inviting those groups we have worked with throughout the pandemic to make applications for those in most desperate need.
