The Good Shepherd Centre (GSC) supports vulnerable young people from the age of 12 up to 18. We offer a place of safety and nurture and a positive, holistic and strengths-based ethos.
Young people are referred to us through the Children’s Hearing System and the Criminal Justice System. They have experienced difficulties in their lives, and many will have faced traumatic and harmful situations and may be experiencing psychological distress; mental health problems; and problems coping with managing feelings and day to day life.
The Good Shepherd Centre’s close support service was named ‘Lomond House’ after consultation with young people. The house offers a transitional resource for young people aged 12 up to 18 who have experienced secure care, but still require additional support before they feel ready to return to less structured living in the community. We also accept referrals from the community for young people who may require a more structured placement within a highly supportive environment.
We have a highly effective working relationship with Greater Glasgow and Clyde NHS. They provide Forensic Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (FCAMHS) for young people who require their specialist support. The FCAMHS Team offer clinical advice and guidance to staff to support treatment plans for individual young people. They also offer out of hours emergency mental health care.
