Bikes for Refugees (Scotland) aims to support the resettlement and social inclusion of isolated and socially and economically disadvantaged New Scots through the provision of free bicycles and the transformational power of cycling.
We work with a wide range of community, statutory and private organisations. We welcome new partnerships and collaborations.
We are much more than a bicycle project. Access to bikes for New Scots can be transformational and liberating, supporting every aspect of people’s daily lives.
Bikes address loneliness & isolation; protect and promote physical and mental wellbeing, and support community cohesion and integration. Alongside refurbishing and distributing free bikes, we also provide:
Volunteering and training opportunities to New Scots and others.
Welcome Packs’ that contain free bike accessories (helmet, lock, lights, tools) as well as essential information and signposting to other free community services and activities.
Community group support such as free community meals, bike fixing and buddying sessions, Led rides and cycling skills.
