Barnardo’s Scotland Adoption Service is a registered adoption agency providing recruitment, preparation, assessment and approval of prospective adopters as well as adoption support to all parties affected by adoption. This includes the provision of support to adults who were adopted, members of birth family, (parent, grandparent, siblings) and adoptive families in contemporary adoptions who require access to adoption support. The service recognises the lifelong implications for all parties and understands that grief and loss is the foundation of adoptive relationships.
Adopters are recruited throughout Scotland. We welcome applications, regardless of race, gender, religion, sexuality or marital status. We work with a wide range of people, placing children with heterosexual couples, same sex couples, families who already have children and single adopters.
We are particularly interested in adopters who can look after brothers and sisters who need to stay together in recognition of the importance of family relationships.
