We seek to provide three Youth Group evenings per week. Creating a safe, welcoming environment for social, recreational and skill-focused activities for young people with diverse development and support needs in an area of high deprivation. Providing some much valued respite for family and carers of young people with a diagnosed physical or learning disability, developmental delay or behavioural condition.
The youth group was originally set up for youths with disabilities in the west of Glasgow. However over time this has evolved into an integrated group of able bodies and youths with disabilities.
Our main outcome sought will be to enable children and young people to have better physical, mental and emotional well-being. This will be undertaken through social engagement in activities and attempting to overcome challenges faced by young people when engaging with each other, assisting communication and self-expression, appropriately.
Funded through various streams at differing times the youth group evolves each year and currently looking towards being more member run with the young people who attend making more of the decisions about what they do each night and what they wish to learn.
All welcome, ages 8 to 18.
